Shushila Chaudhari worked grazing cows for most of her childhood while also protecting her mother from her father\u2019s abuse. Even when she started school at 13 years old, the lack of a school uniform meant that she had to drop out eventually, and could only continue after she was given old uniforms. After teaching an adult school, she could finally afford to buy copies and gave SLC. Afterwards, she went to work to Banglore to free herself from her debt and eventually returned. As she entered politics for Tharu people and women\u2019s cause, she and her community experienced sexual and physical violence and rape at the hand of the police and anti-federalist forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
