Buddha Kumari Rai

Buddha Kumari was born in a middle class family with a happy childhood and a curiosity in learning. However, being the eldest daughter of the family, she had to give up formal eduction and take on the responsibilities of her house and caring for her siblings. At 43, Buddha Kumari Rai is the treasurer of Chetana Mahila Samuha in Jogidaha, Udayapur, and works for women’s and children’s rights. Throughout her life, she has been actively involved in advocating against violence on women, women’s health rights, development of children and their rights, and agriculture. Buddha Kumari has also started working actively on climate change and formation of a youth club. Along with the role of a treasurer, Buddha Kumari coordinates and manages all 18 different groups associated with Chetana Mahila Samuha.
